Cleveland Browns 51, Cinncinnati Bengals 45

I don’t know what the bigger shocker was: the fact that Cleveland actually won when everyone was calling them worst team in the league last week, or the throwback performance by Jamal Lewis who everyone had put a fork in.

Indianapolis Colts 22, Tennesee Titans 20

Close game, but the Colts have proven they can win these types of games over the past year.  Can someone get Vince Young some help, PLEASE, before he gets hurt and turns into McNabb/Culpepper.

San Francisco 49ers 17, St. Louis Rams 16

It looks like the theme of this season is special teams.  I continue to endorse Reno Mahe for MVP, because if he played for the Rams on Sunday, they would have won this game.

Green Bay Packers 35, New York Giants 13

Favre may just have a lot left in the tank.  More impressive is the Packers secondary of Charles Woodson and Al Harris, who are really making it tough for opposing defenses so far this season.

Pittsburgh Steelers 26, Buffalo Bills 3

The Bills’ receiving core rivals the Eagles’ receivers in futility.  (Although I’m sure the Eagles would kill for Lee Evans)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31, New Orleans Saints 14

Big loss for the Saints who seemed to be the preseason favorite to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.  It looks like Garcia could potentially have a Rich Gannon type throwback season in Gruden’s offense. (Wait Gannon wasn't actually good before he was 30+, so I don't know if you can call his season a "throwback.")

Houston Texans 34, Carolina Panthers 21

Surprising upset for the Texans which could mean that they are for real or that the Panthers are in for another disappointing season.  One thing is for sure, Schaub gets rid of the ball quickly and accurately, which tends to support the theory that David Carr was not the right fit in Houston.

Jacksonville Jaguars 13, Atlanta Falcons 7

Jags winning this game 13-7 against the lowly Falcons likely means they are not a playoff team.

Detroit Lions 20, Minnesota Vikings 14

Jon Kitna continues.  2/10ths of the way towards proving everyone wrong.  Next week v/s the Eagles you can pretty much count on it being 3/10ths with the way the Birds are playing.

Dallas Cowboys 37, Miami Dolphins 20

The Dallas offense and Tony Romo are for real.  The jury is still out on the defense's ability to stop people.

Arizona Cardinals 23, Seattle Seahawks 20

Maybe they aren’t who I thought they were last week.  Or maybe we still don’t know who they are.  Either way, it’s a great win that hopefully the Cardinals can build on.  Leinart bounced back from a subpar performance last week and finally got the ball to his weapons.  Not to mention the Cardinals line must be improved after seeing Edge’s numbers.  (24 car, 128 yards, 1 TD.  5.3 ypc)

Chicago Bears 20, Kansas City Chiefs 10

Bears win despite Grossman.  I’m going to save this article so that I can cut and paste that sentence and save myself some typing this year.  There is no in between with Rex, he either plays sensational or absolutely terrible.

Denver Broncos 23, Oakland Raiders 20

The Broncos are not looking consistent on offense. However, they are stepping up when it matters at the end of games, even though the Raiders gave this one away with some assistance from the refs.  On another note, the "freezing the kicker" timeouts at the last minute need to be ignored.  I can understand if you call it early, but seconds before the snap, it should not be the referee’s obligation to pay attention to the coach.  The next time a ref misses a call he should look at the coach and say, “I’m sorry but I was watching you to make sure you weren’t calling a BS timeout.”

Baltimore Ravens 20, New York Jets 13

Boller wins and actually played pretty good.  Don’t be surprised if McNair doesn’t get his job back.  It really must suck being the Jets and getting two of the best defenses in the league in the first two weeks.

New England Patriots 38, San Diego Chargers 14

For the second consecutive week the Pats looked like they are in a different league than the rest of the NFL.  If they beat the Colts like this, we may be staring down the barrel of an undefeated season.  Frankly I can’t think of anything much worse than that.

Washington Redskins 20, Philadelphia Eagles 12

As you may recall, I foreshadowed the Eagles inability to get the ball to their receivers in this blog, before the season started.  What I didn’t expect was for McNabb to be playing this bad.  I don’t know where to place the blame right now, but its hard not to place it squarely on Andy Reid.  Reid’s stubbornness with regards to providing McNabb with offensive weapons that cater to his abilities is a big reason the Eagles offense has been inconsistent.  With a true number 1 receiver with big play ability, McNabb has been stellar, while when using the number 1 receiver by committee approach, McNabb has been a slightly better than average.  The difference in the past was his ability to make plays with his feet. However, with McNabb’s recent injuries, this weapon will no longer be available.  If the Eagles can’t turn it around, Reid will be faced with the decision to either turn the job over to Kolb, or get McNabb some weapons on offense.  Considering Reid’s reluctance to add receiving talent, Eagles fans may be bidding McNabb farewell after the season.
